 | Dear colleague, This year has already proven to be a year of change here at MHS. Our President and Chief Operating Officer, Gerald A. FitzGerald will be shifting into a new role at MHS where he will be guiding our management advisory board. Gerry has done an outstanding job in helping steer MHS over the past 20 years. I am pleased to announce that Hazel Wheldon, Publisher, will now be directing operations at MHS. Hazel has been with MHS for six years and has a successful career in the test publishing industry. Please join me in congratulating Hazel on her new position and responsibilities. We’ve had a very productive year at MHS with continued promotion and sales of the 2008 launched Conners 3rd Edition™ (Conners 3™) and Conners Comprehensive Behavioral Rating Scales™ (Conners CBRS™). The recently released Conners Early Childhood™ (Conners EC™) has become a resounding achievement. Thank you for welcoming these innovative products into your work. We’ve already had a tremendous amount of positive feedback on our newly released Goldstein & Naglieri Autism Spectrum Rating Scales™ (ASRS™) by Sam Goldstein, Ph.D. and Jack A. Naglieri, Ph.D. We have increased the number of online tests that are now available for your use. To learn more about which tests are now accessible via the web through our MHS Online Assessment Center. A number of psychologists have reported on the time, money, and paper they have saved by having teachers, parents, adults, and where appropriate, children and adolescents, complete their assessments online. The professional is notified when the testing has been completed and the results can be tabulated instantly.
Our Emotional Intelligence division continues to expand as more professionals discover the benefits of this type of assessment and its role in positive psychology. You might want to recommend my new book, Emotional Intelligence for Dummies® to friends, colleagues, and relatives that have an interest in learning more about the nuts and bolts of emotional intelligence in a humorous and non-threatening way. In working on this project I’ve learned that Dummies® books are really designed for people who are smart in one or more areas, but want to get up to speed quickly in a new field, whether it’s digital photography, playing the piano, yoga, stress management, cognitive-behavior therapy, and now emotional intelligence. Please send me your comments about what you like and what we can do better. Steven J. Stein, Ph.D. CEO, MHS |
 | Dear valued client, As Publisher of MHS, I am delighted to present the 2010 catalog to you, our client, and to be writing a column that for many years has been written by our longtime President and Chief Operating Officer, Gerald A. FitzGerald. Gerry, a key member of the MHS team has been a contributor to the company’s growth and success for two decades. Although Gerry is stepping down from his presidential role this year, we are thrilled that he will be taking on the position of Chair of the Management Board. He will continue to help shape the future of MHS as we begin our next chapter, and an exciting one it is. In 2009, despite the global economic slow down, MHS remained committed to meeting our promise to you—to provide best in class assessments from leading researchers and authors. This past year we saw the successful publication of the Conners Early Childhood™ (Conners EC™) by C. Keith Conners, Ph.D., in June and the release of the Goldstein & Naglieri Autism Spectrum Rating Scales™ (ASRS™) by Sam Goldstein, Ph.D. and Jack A. Naglieri, Ph.D., in the fall. Our authors and assessment consultants are available to demonstrate these new products and the research to you. Simply contact Janice Sneath to arrange a presentation.
MHS now offers a revamped and newly normed Youth Level of Service/Case Management Inventory (YLS/CMI™)—the Youth Level of Service/Case Management Inventory 2.0 (YLS/CMI™ 2.0). This instrument measures the risks, needs, and responsivity factors in young offenders in order to create a successful case plan. Our Emotional Intelligence (EI) division is in an exciting stage as we embark on a substantial restandardization and revision of the Emotional Quotient Inventory (EQ-i®). As pioneers in the field of EI assessment and the publishers of the first scientifically validated assessment of EI, we remain committed to ensuring the quality and the efficacy of this tool for industrial organization (IO) practitioners, trainers, and consultants. The upcoming Emotional Quotient Inventory: Second Edition (EQ-i® 2.0) not only promises to build on the enormous success of its predecessor, but will also set a new standard in EI assessments, tools, and services. To be a part of this exciting project, join our customer feedback team by contacting us.
MHS is committed to improving our international clients access to our tools. We continue to build relationships with international publishers and you can look forward to many more cultural adaptations and translations of our assessments in the future. We appreciate your feedback and continued support. Please do not hesitate to contact us to let us know how we are doing. Hazel Wheldon, M.A. Publisher, COO, MHS
